Well, Matthew and Brad went on the first camp out of the year this past weekend, and it was great fun for all. Best of all, Brad came home without any major injuries – which is my way of determining the level of success of the camp out.
Brad said that Matthew was a little angel – well behaved and oh so sweet. I was soooo happy to hear that. I think it speaks volumes about what Matthew’s little heart needs.
During the camp out, Matthew took his first solo horseback ride. His horse’s name was Dreamer. Or Snowball. Or something like that. He was white anyway. Here are some pictures of the event:
Besides riding horses, they did some archery, some riflery, and road a boat out to Devil’s Island. Also, there was camp fires and marshmallows and s’mores and even Trick Or Treating – since it was Halloween weekend! Here are some more pictures of the fun they had:
And when I asked Matthew what was the best part of the whole weekend, he said “Yuval”. Yuval was born in Israel and still speaks Hebrew as his native language at home. He was a quiet, shy kid the first time the Wolverines met (the name of their Adventure Guides group) and he and Matthew really hit it off. Now when they go camping, they are inseparable. I find it quite odd – and really really cool – that Peter’s best friend and Matthew’s friend are both from Israel and speak Hebrew. Here is Matthew with his best friend:
*** Edited to add this update: for you grandparents reading this, Samuel is suffering from a dual ear infection – blisters on both ear drums and pretty high fever. He’s in better spirits since his last dose of medicine but was up half the night last night in a lot of pain. Doctor says it will probably get worse before it gets better. 🙁
